3rd Space is privileged to be part of life journeys. The timeless human activity and alchemical processes of artmaking is a very important component of these journeys.

Recently, 3rd Space was delighted to collaborate with the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre, to showcase artworks to the public under the support of New Farm Rotary Club.

The art exhibition held in St Michael and All Angels Church on Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, was a great event.

Our modest yet dynamic collection of works by the Art Space participants had a significant presence within the sea of paintings filling the cavernous church space.

From our ranks, artist Rene sold her ‘Love you’, a tribute to her love of her children. Its powerful message and energy captivated an eager buyer, who said she could not leave the show without it.

Artists from Art Space distinguished themselves for the courage to explore deeply emotional topics, with images of home, family relationships and self-reflection portraits. Their artworks communicate emotions and memories brought to the surface while experiencing the daily challenges of homelessness.

Our collection of works attracted much interest and positive comment from the attending public, perhaps opening eyes to better understanding of the issues surrounding the lived experience of being homeless.

Many VIPs attended, including the Federal member Trevor Evans as well as councillor Vicki Howard. Both are interested in community art projects and expressed the will to support future endeavours of Art Space.

Art Space is honoured to provide a safe and welcoming place for people to find their creative expression and voice. All who visit the centre are most welcome to join this small but dedicated community within the embrace of 3rd Space.
